History of the Dojo
|
The Armstrong Dojo was established in September 1981, with Sempai Lyle McWilliam as the
head instructor and Sempai Jeff Fast as assistant instructor. Larry Robinson was a Yellow
Belt at the time. Due to work commitments for Sempai Lyal, and a serious back injury
suffered by Sempai Jeff, the Club was turned over to Sempai Larry in 1982. Sensei
Larry has continued to be Head Instructor since then. The Armstrong Dojo currently has
60 active members ranging in ages from 5 - 55 years. The Club has sponsered many events
in the Okanagan Valley, the most noteable being the highly successful "Western Canadian
Kyokushin Summer Camp" now celebrating it's 13th year in it's current location at Ashton
Creek, just north of Armstrong. The Armstrong Dojo is located right in downtown Armstrong.
Easy to find, with lots of parking. If you are ever in the Valley please come and train with
us. OSU
