The 17th Annual Lower Mainland Coloured Belt Tournament in Newton had more than 150 fighters in 22 divisions. It was an exciting day, with excellent spirit being shown from even the smallest fighters. There were some very young fighters who amazed us all with the quality of their technique. Many are still talking about the match between Levi and Michi in the Open Lightweight Division. It ended with an ippon, due to a kick from Levi, which surprised everyone.

On behalf of myself and Sensei Tom Gillam, I would like to thank all of the parents and fighters for supporting the tournament. Our thanks to Shihan Stuart for taking the time to conduct an informative Officials・Clinic prior to the tournament, and for lending us his expertise at the tournament. Also, thanks to all of the club instructors. Our appreciation goes to the brown and black belts who officiated, and all of the others who came out to marshall and help with the many tasks that needed to be done. Sempai Kathy, as always, brought the Kyokushin merchandise, to give everyone a chance to make their purchases (many don稚 know how much work she puts into making sure that we have this opportunity!). Special thanks to the officials and fighters who traveled from out of town.

We look forward every year, to your presence and assistance.
