Sensei Larry
Robinson graciously hosted the 2nd
Annual Black Belt Training Seminar in
his Armstrong dojo on June 11, 12, 13th
2004. The event was attended by
participants and dojo operators from the
Lower Mainland, Okanagan Valley,
Similkameen, and Alberta regions. The
enthusiastic group left with a deeper
understanding and knowledge thanks to
the expert tutelage of Shihan Stuart
Corrigal and Shihan Don Corrigal.
Training sessions
were held on Friday evening, Saturday
morning and afternoon, and Sunday
morning.
These training
sessions featured numerous kata and
bunkai breakdowns, goshin jitsu, and
training drills to aid in development of
ourselves and karate-ka in our home
dojos. As well, training tips, and
discussions regarding the IKOK-C were
held.
Everyone involved
left the seminar with something new to
work on and think about, and all were
encouraged by Shihan to deepen our
understanding and open our horizons by
challenging ourselves every day instead
of backsliding with the “tunnel vision”
attitude that stunts growth and
development.
(It is exactly
events such as this that are so
important to open our eyes and
“re-focus” ourselves again…. And it
cannot be overemphasized enough that
these events are for the benefit of
us!)
Many thanks go out
to Shihan Stuart, Shihan Don, for their
attendance and leadership, and deepest
appreciation to Sensei Larry Robinson,
and his dedicated students for hosting
this event, and preparing an exceptional
dinner. A “wing dinger” of a party was
held after the dinner for everyone to
unwind…
Sensei Larry plans
to hold this event every year, so be
sure to mark the first part of each June
on your calendar!
Osu!
