Training at the Hawaii
Dojo
Sempai Dawn-Leah McDonald
and Stuart Corrigal were
fortunate to attend training
on May 13, at the first and
oldest Kyokushin Karate
overseas dojo sanctioned by
Kyokushin Karate founder,
Sosai Mas Oyama. The Hawaii
Kyokushin dojo of Shihan
Bobby Lowe has been open and
training since the early
1950's.
On holidays in tropical
Hawaii, but never far from a
Kyokushin dojo, both IKOKC
members added to the
training spirit always
evident at Shihan Lowe's
dojo. Although Shihan Lowe
has had some health setbacks
over the past couple of
years, he continues to
attend classes regularly on
Thursday evenings.
Make no mistake, Shihan is
always ready and able to add
his voice and many years of
experience and knowledge to
the class should the
training vary from what he
learned many years ago from
his instructor, good friend,
mentor and founder of
Kyokushin Karate, Sosai Mas
Oyama.
Many thanks and best wishes
to all the Hawaii dojo
members for making us feel
so at home. Continued best
wishes to Shihan and his
family for their health and
prosperity in the future.
