History of the Dojo

The Vernon Kyoushin Karate Club was officially started in 1932 making it the oldest Karate School in Vernon. Originally started by Martin Dusowswa, a student of Jon Bluming's who trained directly under Mas Oyama, the instruction tasks have been handed down through Ron Miciuk, Lyle McWilliams and Herb Milton. Herb Milton assumed responsibility of the Vernon Club in 1982 and has produced numerous Black Belts, National and International Champions and several members to the World Championships. In 2002 Cliff Craske took over as Head Instructor of the Vernon Dojo as well as the Lumby Dojo as Sensei Herb Milton moved on. We still produce World and International Fighters and are always looking forward to drop in by fellow Kyokushin members. In 2010 the club names has been changed to Ultimate Truth Kyokushin Karate or UTK.  The name change is to show unity between the clubs.
