PART 4 - Summer Camp 2004

"We are going where?" my three kids yelled. "The summer camp." I said it like it
was something we have done a million times. It was, in fact going to be our first
time and I had absolutely no clue what I was getting myself, my wife, and three kids
into. It had already been a great first year of Kyokushin Karate for the Chan family
under the tireless and fearless leadership of Sempai Laszlo Antal. We have never
done anything like this before. We weren't even sure if tent camping, three kids,
and karate training was a sane mixture. After a few more questions answered by both
Sempai Laszlo and Sensei Larry, we were set to go.

At the camp, we quickly settled in with the help of a few friendly faces. I was
surprised to see how many kids were there with their moms and dads who also trained.
Zerlina had an awesome time meeting and swapping stories with other Karate Moms.
While all the trainings with the many instructors were great fun and learning
experiences, the best one for me was the Ido geiko training on Saturday. The
swimming in Ashton Creek after training made the high heat almost forgettable.

In closing, I would like to thank everyone who made the camp possible for their hard
work and love for Kyokushin. The dinner and dance on Sunday night was the perfect
finish to an unforgettable long weekend that went by far too quickly.

Osu!

Christopher Antal in the company of Sensei Leo, Sempai Darryl, and Sempai Laszlo.

The Collingwood team had a great weekend at summer camp, training with another 150
enthusiastic karatekas.

In this class Sempai Laszlo enjoyed a superb SUSHIHO instruction from Shihan Don.

Sensei Leo's fighting class was a lot of fun for John and Zerlina, using foam
sticks to safely practice blocks against punches and kicks.

Can we all fit on this picture?, -OH YES!

After a long day of trainings the Collingwood camp enjoyed some marshmallows over
the camp fire in the company of Sempai Darryl Hunter.
