PART 1 - Beach Training and BBQ (July 5, 2001)

O.K. Falls & Naramata Clubs Dojo Report:

Beach training & BBQ

July 5th was the wind up training / barbeque for members of the O.K. Falls and Naramata clubs. Naramata students traveled to beautiful Kenyon Park Beach in Okanagan Falls B.C. to join the O. K. Falls bunch for some fun water training and family BBQ afterward.

We are fortunate to live in the most beautiful part of British Columbia. Where we can bask (or fry!) in the summer sun, enjoy miles of beaches, and the warm waters of Skaha Lake! By 6:00 pm it had cooled down to a comfortable 30 degrees Celsius and training began.

An informal training session was held in the park, where members had the opportunity to demonstrate their favorite katas to an appreciative crowd. Everyone got the chance to learn the 2nd Nai Han Chi kata. Water training proved to be an exciting event, and the tobi splashy geri provided lots of laughs. Water sparring was fun and concluded with everyone ganging up on the instructors!

After training a gourmet BBQ was held, and gave everyone a chance to socialize. The students and their families from the 2 clubs got a chance to get to know each other. After dinner, Kyu certificates were presented, and newsletters were handed out.

This was the culminating event of our first year as an official C.K.K.O. sanctioned dojo. It was a tremendous success! Many thanks to all the members of both clubs, it?fs been rewarding to see how far you?fve all progressed! Remember to keep training this summer, and we?fll see you again in September. HAVE A GREAT, SAFE, SUMMER!!!!!!! OSU!
