History of the Dojo
The Newton Club was opened in 1986. We have had many fighters (males and females) that have gone on to local and international tournaments. I have strived to make all members of the Newton Club well rounded in all aspects of Kyokushin, whether it be fighting, Kata or Self-Defense including basics. The club is going strong and steady.
Profile of Black Belt Members
Tom Gillam - Head Instructor :
Tom started training in Richmond with Sensei Tony in 1978 until 1984. He moved out to Surrey and continued back and forth to Richmond, training with Shihan Stuart. In 1986, the Newton Club was opened. He has had the opportunity to travel to many tournaments and seminars throughout the Kyokushin world.  He's been fortunate to train several times in Hawaii and also Mitsumine. In October 2004, he tested for his yondan at the North American Black Belt Conference in Banff with Kancho Matsui and Shihan Lowe.
