PART 2 - Dojo Report and Photo Gallery (June 2002)

The BBQ wind up party for the Naramata dojo was held on June 25, 2002. It was a beautiful 37 degree Celsius evening at Manitou Park and beach in Naramata B.C. The students brought their families and friends for a "gourmet barbeque" by chef (and Sempai) Dean Gemmell.

After a short break to let the food settle, the group enjoyed a refreshing swim in Okanagan Lake to cool off. The Naramata dojo has been training in the park for the month of June, and the group of hardy young students braved the lake waters numerous times… ( although the thin skinned instructors didn't!) Finally the water had warmed up enough to get in (knee deep for some of us) and perform kata and basic techniques.

Group photos were taken, newsletters handed out, and a casual visit gave the parents, students, and instructors a chance to better acquaint themselves. This event wraps up this training session, so students can enjoy the hot summer months, and look forward to resume regular training again in September.

Congratulations to all students whom were successful on their recent kyu gradings! Don't forget to practice over the summer so you won't get rusty!! Have a safe summer see you all in September!

Osu!
