A very special evening was held at
the
Langley dojo on December 18 2007.
-
Unveiling of the eSensei Ken
Corrigal Memorialf.
-
Presentation of the first eSensei
Ken Corrigal Spirit Awardf
-
Inaugural esounding inf of the
espiritf taiko drum.
Plans
had been in the works for months on
a living memory of Sensei Ken
Corrigal, a very special person to
all in the Langley
dojo, as well as many others
throughout the CKK organization.
A
memorial plaque was made with
Sensei Kenfs gi jacket. This plaque
will hang proudly in the dojo and
act as an inspiration to all who
train here. We were honoured with
the attendance of Pat Corrigal to
do the unveiling.
In
addition, the first annual espirit
awardf was presented to a special
student of the Langley dojo who
demonstrated personal development
through hard training, experience
and devotion, all attributes we
experienced while be in the
presence of Sensei Ken. This yearfs
recipient was Mari Shramm. Once
again, we were honoured that Pat
Corrigal could present Mari with
this award.
The
final touch to the evening was the
inaugural esounding inf of the
taiko espiritf
drum by Shihan Stuart Corrigal.
The
taiko espiritf
drum in the Langley
dojo is the most significant memory
invoking token of appreciation we
will show to Sensei Ken. As we
sound the drum to begin each class,
it will draw upon all present to
honour his memory, his challenges,
adversity and attitude. Its
sounding will prepare us for
training both mentally and
physically, calling upon us to give
the best of our ability always, in
our journey to seek the eKyokushin
wayf.
