History of the Dojo
@

Working as a Special Education Assistant at an elementary school in Vancouver, Anthony performed two demonstrations of Kyokushin to the students at his school (Jun & Sep 2007).  Both demonstrations were a tremendous hit with the students, who then requested Anthony to teach them Kyokushin Karate at their school.  So the following November 2007, Anthony formed the Kitsilano West Dojo.  In June 2010, Anthony was appointed the Head Instructor of the Vancouver West Dojo.  Having to share the responsibilities of running both the Vancouver West Dojo and Kitsilano West Dojo, Anthony decided to merge them together to form one dojo, the Kitsilano Dojo.  With the support and guidance of Shihan Stuart Corrigal, the roots of the formation of the Kitsilano Dojo stem from the knowledge, hard work and dedication of two people:  Sensei Tats Nakamura - Vancouver College Dojo (established 1991) and Sempai Katrina Stewart - Vancouver West Dojo (previously Vancouver College, 2002).  It is through their hard work and dedication to Kyokushin and the IKOK-C, that we are able to share Kyokushin karate in the Kitsilano community today.
