PART 4 - Rocky Mountain Dojo 2003 Winter Session Report (January 31st, 2004)

The Rocky Mountain Dojo held its winter session testing and Christmas party during
December 2004. Many students graded for their next belts. Congratulations to the
successful candidates. Those that were not, we encourage you to continue training
hard and re-test in April.

It was announced at the party that the dojo members were successful in raising
$5000.00 during this session for the club’s equipment funds. This money was then
spent on 550 square feet of training mats for the dojo and new head gear with face
cages, chest protectors and gloves for the children’s knockdown fighting. This brings
the equipment locker to include 32 headgears, 24 pairs of gloves and 20 sets of
chest protectors. Thanks go to the dojo’s parent fund raising committee that worked
tirelessly to make sure that we could meet our goal. Kathleen Darula, Linda Benson &
Lorinda Ravenstein, runs the committee.
The fund raising target for the winter and spring sessions will be $2500.00. This fund
raising will be directed to the club’s goal of filling a tour bus of 47 seats with
fighters and club members for the annual Canadian Kyokushin Karate Championships in
Vancouver slated for May 8. The committee has acquired the tour bus at no cost to the
club and will be raising the funds to offset the hotel & meal costs for club members.
